Roost is a family chore app built to get everyone, kids included, doing their chores without you asking twice. Add your chores to the list, set a schedule once, and attach a point value to each one.
From there Roost takes over: reminders go out, points add up, and you’re no longer the one holding the whole schedule in your head.
No More Nagging
You shouldn’t have to be the one who remembers everything. Roost sends reminders on whatever schedule you set, so “did you take out the trash” stops being something you have to say out loud every single week. Kids get a nudge on their own phone when a chore’s due, and another if it’s still sitting there later. You stay out of it until something actually needs your attention, like a chore that’s gone undone for days.
Fewer Arguments, Fairer Chores
Roost tracks who did what over the week and shows it on a simple chart, so you can see at a glance who’s carrying the load. Say one kid handled most of the week’s chores and the other barely touched the list. That shows up in plain numbers, not vague feelings, so nobody can argue their way out of it. If one kid’s doing everything and the other’s coasting, you’ll know in five seconds instead of after a blowup at dinner. Rebalance the list and the argument settles itself.
Teach Kids the Value of Finishing the Job
Kids earn points as they check chores off, and you decide what those points are worth. Ten points per dollar of allowance. Fifty points toward a pizza night with friends. Or nothing more than watching the number climb, if that’s incentive enough. You set the whole system, and you can turn it off completely if points aren’t your family’s style.
Require Proof if You Want It
Kids can get creative with the definition of “done.” (Anyone else’s kid think a floordrobe counts as a clean room?) Turn on photo proof and a chore doesn’t get checked off until there’s a picture to back it up. “Took out the trash” ends up meaning the trash is in the can, not still sitting on the porch. You can turn this on for the whole household or just for the kid who needs it, and it’s off by default if you’d rather run things on trust.
Rotations
Chores don’t have to be stuck on one person forever. Set up a rotation, pick who’s in it, and let Roost cycle through them on whatever schedule makes sense.
Kids handle trash duty every time? Add them. Whole family takes turns on dishes? Add everyone, and Roost decides fairly who’s up tonight.
iPhone or Android, It Doesn’t Matter
Roost runs on both, so nobody in the house gets left out over which phone they carry. Mom’s on iPhone, the oldest just inherited an Android hand-me-down from a cousin, it doesn’t matter. Everyone sees the same chore list, the same points, and the same schedule, no matter what’s in their pocket.
