The problem we care about

The chores are visible. The planning usually is not.

In plenty of homes, one person notices what needs doing, remembers when it needs to happen, works out who should do it, and follows up when it does not. That is work too, even when it never appears on a to-do list.

Roost is being built to move that plan into the open. Not to make a home feel like a workplace, and not to keep score for the sake of it. Just to give everyone the same clear picture of what keeps the place running.

How we think about it

    Make the plan visible

    When everyone can see what needs doing, whose turn it is, and what is already done, one person no longer has to carry the whole plan in their head.

    Keep reminders neutral

    A useful nudge should come from the plan, not from the person who is already tired of asking. Roost is designed to take the tension out of follow-through.

    Fit real homes

    Some chores rotate. Some belong to one person. Some happen every day and others happen whenever the recycling finally fills up. The system should bend around the home.
