This policy explains what Roost ("we") collects, uses, and shares in the Roost app and on this site. Roost is still in development, so it describes what the app does today.

What We Collect

  • Account. Your email address, and a password our authentication provider stores only in hashed form.
  • Household. Its name, time zone, and invite code; each member's display name, color, and role; your chores with their schedules, rotations, and assignments; each turn's due date, completion time, notes, and approval status; your reminder settings; and a record of household events that keeps history accurate.
  • Technical. Our hosting provider logs ordinary request data, such as IP address and timestamps.
  • On your device. The last household state the server confirmed, your signed-in email, and your session in secure storage.

Roost does not collect precise location, contacts, photos, camera access, advertising identifiers, or behavioral analytics. Notifications are the only permission it asks for, and it is optional.

How We Use It

To run your household and keep every member's view of it current, schedule the reminders you turn on, send account email such as password resets, answer support requests, keep the Service secure, and meet legal obligations. Where a legal basis is required, we rely on our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests, and legal compliance.

How We Share It

We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. Members of a household you join see its shared content, including your name and the turns you completed. Supabase hosts our database and handles authentication and account email; FreeWaitlists handles the waitlist form. We operate in the United States, where our providers store information. We may disclose information where the law requires it, and information may transfer if Roost is acquired.

The Waitlist

An address you leave on this site goes to FreeWaitlists and is used for one email on the day early access opens. It is not sold or handed to anyone else. Unsubscribing is one click in that email, or ask us and we will remove it sooner.

Reminders and Analytics

Reminders are scheduled and delivered by your own device: nothing is sent from our servers, and we collect no push token. The app contains no analytics or crash reporting, and this site runs no analytics and sets no advertising cookies.

Retention and Deletion

We keep your information while your account exists. Deleting your account in the app removes your sign-in immediately. If you were the last account holder in a household, that household is deleted outright, with its chores, turns, and history. If other members remain, your display name stays on the turns you completed so their record stays accurate. Backups age out over a limited period.

Security

Traffic is encrypted, stored data is encrypted at rest, and every change to a household is checked on the server against your membership rather than trusted from the app. Data cached on your phone is protected by your phone, so keep it locked. No system is perfectly secure.

Your Rights

You can change your name, chores, and reminder settings in the app, and delete your account from your profile. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, to object to processing, or to withdraw consent.Send us a note and we will handle it. In the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Changes and Contact

We will give notice before anything material takes effect. Questions go straight to a person: send us a note.
