These terms explain what you're agreeing to when you use Roost ("we," "us") in the app and on this site. Roost is still in development, so read this alongside the Privacy policy for how we handle your information.
Accepting These Terms
By creating a household, joining one, or signing up for the waitlist, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Roost.
Accounts and Households
You need an account to use Roost. Keep your password secure and tell us if you think someone else has access to your account. A household's owner sets it up, invites its members, and manages its chores, roles, and settings; adult members share day-to-day use. Each household is separate, and what's in it is only visible to the people you've added.
Children in Your Household
Roost is built for families, so a household can include children as members: they complete their own chores, and an adult approves that work before it counts. A parent or guardian must set up and manage a child's account and stays responsible for how it's used. Roost isn't intended for a child to sign up on their own.
Your Content
You keep ownership of what you add to Roost, chore names, notes, household and member names, and the like. By adding it, you let us store it and show it to the other people in your household, since that's how the app works. Don't add anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights.
Acceptable Use
Use Roost the way it's meant to be used. Don't try to access a household you're not a member of, interfere with the Service or its security, reverse engineer the app, or use Roost for anything illegal or that could harm other people.
The Waitlist
Joining the waitlist on this site doesn't create an account or guarantee access. We'll email the address you give us when early access opens; see the Privacy policy for how that address is used.
Service Changes and Availability
Roost is in active development, and its features can change as we build. Roost is currently free to use. If we introduce paid plans, we'll update these terms and tell you before you're ever charged.
Intellectual Property
The Roost app, this site, and their design, code, and branding belong to us. These terms don't give you any right to use our name or branding beyond what's needed to use the Service normally.
Ending Your Access
You can delete your account from your profile at any time; see thePrivacy policy for what happens to your household's data when you do. We can suspend or end access for anyone who violates these terms or misuses the Service.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Roost is provided "as is." We work to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages from your use of the Service, and our liability for anything else is limited to what you paid us in the past twelve months, which for nearly everyone, today, is nothing.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands.
